Abstract

The background for writing this article is the portrait of education and the challenges of students in Eastern Indonesia. Even distribution of education which has not been completed has resulted in many regions in Eastern Indonesia being left behind and still far from the desired expectations. Many schools were found that did not have facilities, students who did not wear complete uniforms, even students who studied had to walk for 1-2 hours. In accordance with the state's goal of educating the life of the nation, efforts must be made to improve the education system in Eastern Indonesia so that the generation in that area can receive the same education as other regions across Indonesia. As for the author's goals in making articles, namely: 1) To understand the portrait of education in Eastern Indonesia. 2) To understand the challenges of students in obtaining education in Eastern Indonesia. In accordance with the author's background and goals, the method used is qualitative by collecting data in the form of literacy from books and articles that have been published.
